A herd of 10 red deer have just been released in the Velebit Mountains rewilding landscape in Croatia. As part of an ongoing restocking programme, the release will help to restore the population across the landscape to a more healthy level, with benefits for wild nature and local communities.

This marks the start of an exciting new chapter in our partnership with SKUA Nature – one of Europe’s leading wildlife photography organisations dedicated to promoting sustainable nature tourism.
Last week, a male lynx – nicknamed ‘Ljubo’ – was released into the Velebit Mountains Rewilding landscape. Ljubo is the fifth lynx to be released in Croatia as part of the European LIFE Lynx project.
The donation will be used to fund a range of key rewilding measures. These will continue the development of a wilder Velebit that supports a thriving wild nature and local economy.
A herd of 20 Tauros has just been released in the Velebit Mountains rewilding area in Croatia. Complementing the 20 Tauros already released in August, the animals will help to restore a more natural landscape which better supports wild nature and nature-based tourism.
