Rewilding Europe has commissioned a science-based overview of changes in the abundance and distribution of selected wildlife species in Europe. The updated Wildlife Comeback report will provide the latest and state-of-the-art insights, opportunities and challenges for wildlife comeback at a European scale.

The first installment of “Europe’s New Wild”, the multi-episode TV series profiling the dramatic return of wild nature across Europe, has now aired in the US. Co-produced by Rewilding Europe, it has already captivated millions of viewers across the globe.

The new partnership recognises Rewilding Europe’s pivotal role in promoting rewilding as a mainstream approach to ecosystem restoration. As we embark on the UN Decade, it underlines the need to scale up rewilding now.

A new partnership between Rewilding Europe and Exodus Travels will support the rewilding of land in five wildlife corridors in the Central Apennines of Italy. This will lock up atmospheric carbon and aid the recovery of local wildlife populations.

Rewilding can restore the wild nature of Spain’s Campo de Montiel region and provide new opportunities for its people. Joining the European Rewilding Network will help the Campo de Montiel + Natural initiative deliver such a transformation.

With its focus on online content creation and field-based exploration, the Lupi EcoClubs programme is taking nature-based education to the next level.

More than 70 fallow deer will be released in the Rhodope Mountains rewilding area in Bulgaria over the 2020/2021 winter period. As part of the long-term restoration of deer populations in the Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria and Greece, the animals will revitalise food chains, create more functional ecosystems and boost nature-based tourism.

A herd of 20 Konik horses has just been released onto Ermakov Island in the Ukrainian part of the Danube Delta. Following the translocation of 23 animals to the island last year, this new group will further enhance wild nature through their grazing and aid the development of nature-based tourism.
