Fallow deer population reinforced in the Rhodope Mountains

65 fallow deer were released on the southern shore of the Kardzhali reservoir in November and December, and are now being monitored by the Rewilding Rhodopes team. The release is part of ongoing efforts in the area to restore deer numbers to a viable level, providing a sustainable natural prey and carrion source while reinstating key links in the food web.

Webinar discusses advances in measurement of rewilding progress

The accurate measurement of rewilding progress is critical if we are to scale up rewilding as quickly and effectively as possible. Participants in a recent European Rewilding Network webinar learned about two new frameworks which can play a major role in enabling such measurement.
