Rewilding in eastern Spain takes step forward with new grant

Rewilding Europe has been awarded an $80,000 grant by the Endangered Landscapes Programme to explore rewilding potential in central eastern Spain. High levels of land abandonment and rich biodiversity give this area huge scope for landscape-scale rewilding.

Central Apennines rewilding initiative relaunched with new partner

The Central Apennines rewilding area in Italy will see Rewilding Europe and Rewilding Apennines work together in a new set up to develop this area as a prime example of European rewilding. One of the first steps is a cooperation with local NGO Salviamo l’Orso to help conserve and boost the critically endangered local population of Marsican brown bears.

Being one of two Regional Managers for Rewilding Europe, Deli is a key figure in making rewilding a reality in five areas stretching from Portugal all the way to Bulgaria on Europe’s eastern fringe. As the main point of liaison between the central office and local teams across the continent, it is his job to ensure that rewilding manifests itself as real action on the ground, and that local communities are going to be better off as a result.

Rewilding Europe withdraws from the Eastern Carpathians

We regret to announce that recently, Rewilding Europe had to decide to withdraw from the Eastern Carpathians rewilding area. The main reason is that, despite several years of trying, we have found that at the moment there is no enabling environment for a major rewilding initiative in the region.
