The partners of the Rewilding Dogger Bank coalition are working to protect and restore Dogger Bank as the ecological beating heart of the North Sea. Their efforts to raise the profile of marine rewilding in Europe make the initiative a highly valued new member of the European Rewilding Network.

The South Cumbria Pine Marten Recovery Project is bringing back one of Britain’s most elusive mammals to northwest England. Joining the European Rewilding Network will enable the team to tap into a community of over 100 rewilding initiatives, with the exchange of experience and expertise helping to advance the comeback of this important species.

Over the last three years, grants from Rewilding Europe’s European Wildlife Comeback Fund have supported the release of over 35 wildcats in the Highlands of Scotland. With animals from this restored population already breeding, the future of the iconic Scottish wildcat looks more optimistic.

Located in northeastern France, the Arc-Châteauvillain Integral Forest Reserve is naturally regenerating without human intervention. By allowing over 3,000 hectares of previously managed forest to evolve freely, the initiative is a living example of how natural processes can revitalise forests and amplify the benefits they deliver to nature, climate, and people.

Today, rewilding initiatives and people across the world will celebrate World Rewilding Day with the theme #RewildingTogether. Rewilding Europe’s European Rewilding Network, which has just seen its membership reach 100, showcases the power of collaborative action in scaling up the impact and benefits of nature recovery.

Rewilding Europe’s Natural Grazing Facility works to scale up natural grazing by wild and semi-wild herbivores in European landscapes. The first translocation organised through the facility has seen a group of Exmoor ponies released in Denmark’s Saksfjed Vildmark rewilding initiative.

Natural grazing can deliver multiple benefits for nature, climate and people. An event in the Greater Côa Valley rewilding landscape in Portugal at the end of May, which brought together a wide range of experts and young rewilders, helped participants to share knowledge and expertise, with the aim of scaling up this essential natural process in Europe.

French NGO TAKH is working to support the conservation of Przewalski’s horses in Europe and Asia. Membership of the European Rewilding Network will advance the team’s rewilding efforts, and enhance the recovery of this iconic animal and the benefits it delivers.
