Rewilding seminar in Madrid

December 12, 2012

This Friday, Rewilding Europe is hosting a rewilding seminar in Madrid. Titled “Making Spain a wilder place!/Haciendo a Europa un lugar más Salvaje”, the event will describe the rewilding situation in Spain and Europe, looking at different ways to turn problems into opportunities.

The seminar is also an official pre-WILD10 event, where more than 50 experts and personalities from media, conservation and science come together to discuss various ways for Spain to benefit from rewilding initiatives. Spain will also be the host for the WILD10 congress next year.

The list of speakers includes Vance Martin (President of The WILD Foundation), Henrique Pereira (Professor at the University of Lisbon), Ronald Goderie (President of the Taurus Foundation), Carlos Sánches (President of Fundación Naturaleza y Hombre ), Antonio Monteiro (President of Associação Transumância e Natureza), Miguel Angel Simón (Director of the LIFE Iberian Lynx Programme), Benigno Varillas (journalist), plus Frans Schepers, Staffan Widstrand, Neil Birnie and Deli Saavedra from Rewilding Europe.

Detailed programme for the seminar is available in English and Spanish.

We will also draw the winners for the first round of Rewilding Europe Travel Club at the seminar – join here for your chance to win a €5.000 arctic expedition cruise and other great nature holidays.

Friday will also be the last chance to see the magnificient “Wild Wonders of Europe” outdoor photo exhibition in El Buen retiro Park in central Madrid. Rewilding Europe is the main partner of the exhibiton that presents a strong story about Europe’s amazing natural heritage, through the emotional power of 100 life-size photos from Europe’s best nature photographers, combined with compelling and informative text messages, showing that nature conservation works and that we still have a natural heritage around us to enjoy and cherish.
