Five new European Rewilding Network members – now 48 from 23 countries

Rewilding Europe warmly welcomes five new members to the European Rewilding Network. These new members are rewilding initiatives in Austria/Germany, Greece, Belarus, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and Ukraine. Since its launch at WILD10 Salamanca in October 2013, the network doubled in size and is now counting 48 members from 23 European countries.

Together towards a new nature-based economy in Lapland

Today, Rewilding Lapland and the Swedish Ecotourism Society signed a partnership agreement in support of the conservation and restoration of the natural and cultural heritage of Lapland. The creation of sustainable nature-based economic activities is at the heart of the agreement aiming to, through tourism, foster finances in support of both nature and local people.

Rewilding Europe Capital is Europe’s first rewilding enterprise funding facility that provides development loans and business support to new and existing businesses that look for opportunities created by the emerging rewilding movement across Europe. In its first stage, covering less than two years, REC supported 16 enterprises in four different countries (Portugal, Italy, Croatia and Romania) creating over 30 new jobs and enhancing the rewilding of 20,000 ha of land.
