We are thrilled to announce that Adessium Foundation will continue to support Rewilding Europe for another three year period. This support will not only focus on our rewilding activities in the Velebit Mountains (Croatia) and the Central Apennines (Italy), but also on the identification of new areas for rewilding.
The enterprise component of Rewilding Europe is all about the people we are working with to create rewilding enterprises in our rewilding areas. In order for rewilding to succeed, it has to bring benefits for the people who live in those areas. If local people feel the benefits this pleases politicians – and this means a more favourable political climate for rewilding.
The comeback of European Bison in free-living herds of more than 100 animals in, at least, five areas is one of the targets of Rewilding Europe’s wildlife recovery programme for the coming ten years. To achieve this, Rewilding Europe commissioned Flaxfield Nature Consultancy to draw up an action plan and prepare two reintroductions of European Bison in the next two years.
Rewilding Europe team is delighted to have received funding from Adessium Foundation for the purpose of developing conservation-based enterprises.
