The Marsican brown bear, also known as the "Apennine brown bear", and orso bruno marsicano in Italian, is a critically endangered population or subspecies of the Eurasian brown bear, with a range restricted to the Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise, and the surrounding region in Italy.

Wildlife Adventures is a small nature based tourism company. It offers outdoor experiences promoting green tourism through hiking and trekking, supporting wildlife conservation and developing environmental education. In 2015 Wildlife Adventures had the possibility to renovate an old shepherd house and rebuilt it as a cosy mountain hut. Terraegna hut was born completely from a private initiative, supported by a Rewilding Europe Capital (REC). Wildlife Adventures respected sustainable practices in rebuilding and in daily management by collecting the rain water, using green energy, biodegradable materials, and minimizing waste. Terraegna Mountain Hut project’s main aim is to offer genuine nature experiences, creating awareness, good environmental practices and economic opportunities for the local community promoting networks between stakeholders.

Terraegna mountain hut obtained in 2018 acknowledgment from European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas: a practical management tool that enables Protected Areas to develop tourism sustainably.
The core element of the Charter is the collaboration between all interested parties to develop a common strategy and action plan for tourism development, based on an in-depth analysis of the local situation. The objective is the protection of the natural and cultural heritage and the continuous improvement of tourism management in the protected area in favor of the environment, the local population, businesses and visitors.
