Rewilding Europe became a beneficiary of the Dutch Postcode Lottery in February 2013. The initiative receives an annual donation of 500,000 euro for a period of five years. With this generous support, Rewilding Europe is able to build the overall initiative and further develop and extend rewilding areas across Europe where wild nature, wildlife and local communities can all benefit from this new approach in conservation.

“We are very grateful to the Dutch Postcode Lottery for its support to Rewilding Europe”, says Frans Schepers, Managing Director of Rewilding Europe. ’’We feel very privileged to be a beneficiary of the lottery, which helps us tremendously to move forward in a steady way to realising our vision of a wilder Europe’’.

Each year, millions of euros in charitable donations are made possible by the 2.7 million people who play the Postcode Lottery. Half the price of every ticket goes to charity. Increased revenues this year have enabled the lottery to give away a total of € 328 million to non-governmental organizations.

The Dutch Postcode Lottery has been raising funds since 1989 to support organizations working towards a fairer and greener world. Fifty percent of the lottery’s annual turnover goes to charity. The lottery has steadily grown to become the biggest charity lottery in the Netherlands and supports 95 non-governmental organizations. Since it’s founding, the lottery has dispensed over 4.7 billion euros to its beneficiaries. Keynote speaker and special guest at the Goed Geld Gala in 2016 was famous actor George Clooney.
