Wilderness tourism opportunity in the Faia Brava reserve

Associação Transumância e Natureza (ATN) in partnership with Rewilding Europe is excited to launch an opportunity to develop and operate a boutique lodge/camp in the Faia Brava private nature reserve in the heart of Portugal’s Côa River Valley. The picturesque site is fully secured and available on a minimum 15 year leasehold basis.

European Rewilding Network launched at WILD10

The European Rewilding Network has officially been launched on October 9 during WILD10, the World Wilderness Congress in Salamanca, Spain. Our aim is to build a living network of many rewilding initiatives supporting rewilding in Europe as a conservation tool and as something to learn from and get inspired by.

Second herd of wild Retuerta horses released in Western Iberia

23 Retuertas horses, coming from the Doñana biological station in southern Spain, were released in the Campanarios de Azaba biological reserve on October 7. The release was possible thanks to Fundación Naturaleza y Hombre in Spain, land owner of the reserve, with support from Rewilding Europe.

Winners of the October 2013 draw of the Rewilding Europe Travel Club

The lucky winners in our rapidly growing Travel Club were drawn on October 9, 2013 at the end of the full-day Rewilding Europe seminar “Making Europe a wilder place” during WILD 10, the World Wilderness Congress in Salamanca, Spain. The winners were drawn by Staffan Widtrand, Marketing and Communication Director of Rewilding Europe. All winners will be contacted by Rewilding Europe staff.

Aurochs book officially launched

“The Aurochs – Born to be Wild”, a unique book about the comeback of this European icon was officially launched today, October 6 at a special event during WILD 10, the World Wilderness Congress in Salamanca, Spain, organised together with the Taurus Foundation and CoalitionWILD.

Global Gathering launches new “Vision for Wilder Europe”

Environment leaders have launched a new “Vision for a Wilder Europe” at Wild10, the world wilderness congress in Salamanca, Spain. Nine organisations from across Europe have promoted the Vision that seeks to build on the significant conservation achievements in Europe that have seen the comeback of some of our most iconic wild species such as the wolf, bear, sea eagle, salmon and beaver.

Central Apennines announced as our 6th rewilding area

The Central Apennines (Italy) was announced as the sixth area within Rewilding Europe today during WILD 10, the World Wilderness Congress in Salamanca, Spain (4–10 October). The Central Apennines, known as “the Wild Heart of Italy” is a perfect example of a rewilding area that is very close to a big city. This the newest of our rewilding areas is only an hour and a half’s drive from Rome.
