We are seeking a Geospatial and Monitoring Officer, eager to support our teams in data collection, management and analysis.
Role
The Geospatial and Monitoring Officer will support the Rewilding Team and the field teams of Rewilding Europe’s 10 landscapes in spatial data collection, management, and analysis, that is needed for monitoring and decision-making purposes. The Geospatial and Monitoring Officer will lead on the job training of field staff in the use of ArcGIS, EarthRanger and other data collection and monitoring tools, ensuring that data is collected and analysed in such a way that it can be consolidated across the network of landscapes.
Together with the field teams, the Geospatial and Monitoring Officer will also support the roll-out of simple but effective monitoring protocols that allow Rewilding Europe to measure the impact on the rewilding of trophic chains, natural grazing, forests, peatlands, rivers, and delta systems. To provide that in-depth support, the Geospatial and Monitoring Officer is expected to spend periods of up to 2 months at a time, in the landscapes.
Job description and qualifications
We are looking for a geospatial practitioner at the beginning of their career, with a strong foundation in spatial data collection, management, and analysis. He/she supports the development and roll-out of simple but effective monitoring protocols in rewilding landscapes. With a keen desire to train others, the Geospatial and Monitoring Officer will lead on the job training of field staff in the use of ArcGIS, EarthRanger and other ecological data collection and monitoring tools. Loves to travel and has the flexibility to do so for extensive periods of time. Impeccable ability to adapt to new cultures. Self-sufficient, committed and results-driven.
