Rewilding Manager

Rewilding Sweden is a young organisation. It works closely with Rewilding Europe, a non-profit initiative founded in 2011 that is working to make Europe a wilder place. Across all of Rewilding Europe’s showcase operational areas – which stretch from Swedish Lapland to the Danube Delta – local teams are working to encourage wildlife comeback, create space for natural processes to reshape ecosystems, and develop nature-based economies.

One of these operational areas is situated in Norrbotten County. As the next step in Rewilding Sweden’s development, a Rewilding Manager can make the difference. We are searching for an experienced nature conservationist with an impressive track record of achievement, and keen to embrace rewilding and apply it in a Swedish context.

Reporting to the Rewilding Sweden team leader, the rewilding manager will take responsibility for Rewilding Sweden’s rewilding programmes at scale across Sweden, particularly in Norbotten County. The role includes project development, fundraising and management. We see strong opportunities for rewilding models such as wetland and river restoration, wilder natural grazing, new forestry management and a reinforced role for keystone species in ecosystems. Integrating local enterprise is also an important part of the rewilding mission.

Many activities will take place in Norrbotten County, and we are primarily looking for a person resident in the area, or who can stay there for extended periods.
